Beauty

Wow.  What a beautiful project carried out by Dove.  Our society tells us ladies these certain standards of beauty that we must adhere to.  We SO often falling into the trap of believing that only the very few elite fit into these very narrow margins of beauty standards.  Its crazy the lies we begin to believe about ourselves and the negative outlook we can have on our own appearance.  We spend so much time focusing on our flaws, which usually is the LAST thing someone else notices about us.

Its just such a special thing to have a reality check of what is true.  These strangers noticed beauty in each other after only a short conversation.  They saw the lovely things about each other, versus the negative characteristics.  Not to mention the drawings with the other person describing them were way more accurate than those narrated by the actual person.

I believe that words we speak are so powerful.  That means words we speak about ourselves.  It's time to ditch self-hatred and words that back that up.  I'm just going to be honest...lately when I wake up in the morning I am looking in the mirror and saying audibly "I am beautiful. God thinks I am beautiful." I think that is powerful and I believe it. I think there is power in speaking that out each morning.  I want to live with a confidence that I am the apple of our wonderful Creator's eye and that means EVERYTHING to me!  When we feel confident in who we are it allows the real inner beauty to shine through.

Hope you enjoyed this as much as I did.

  2. This video was beautiful. It made me want to be far less critical of myself -- and others. We are so hard on ourselves!
