Complete and Thankful

Here is an old post I wrote at the beginning of last year on my previous blog.  I was reading back through it and it was a good reminder of some foundational truths so I thought I would share =].

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today I finally finished reading my first book of the year 1000 Gifts.  Now let me tell you, it was a tough read...almost like reading poetry, but totally worth it.  Within these pages lies such a sweet message of thankfulness to God in every aspect of life.  It really hit me hard how seeing the beauty of the Lord in EVERYTHING each day totally transforms your mind and your relationship with God.  Since seeking out God in the small & big everyday, I feel revived.  I feel joyous.

For just a glimpse into the book, a few of my favorite passages are:
"Spend the whole of your one wild and beautiful life investing in many lives, and God simply will not be outdone.  God, extravagantly pays back everything we give away and exactly in the currency that is not of this world but the one we yearn for: Joy in Him."

"How much larger your life would be if your self could become smaller in it!"

"If God didn't withhold from us his very own Son, will God withhold anything we need?"

"You have to want to see the well before you can drink from it.  You have to want to see joy, God in the moment."

These are just a few of my favorite lines from the book.  I feel like I highlighted more than ever in the past three weeks!  I feel so accomplished for reading this book because it just had the best message.  I desire to know God more fully and my relationship grow with Him and I think learning to bethankful in everything definitely pushes me towards that.

Some gifts that I look around my life and see currently are:

Friendships that weather the years, that you know you will always keep.

Those big AHA moments where you realize exactly what God has been teaching you throughout a season.

Seeing my family happier and healthier than ever.

Little flurries as we move into colder weather!

Friendships with those who live across the country that stand the test of distance and time apart.

Clean sheets & a made bed- thank you New Year's resolution!
