Happie Creations

Ohhhh hey!

Yesterday, I finally launched what I have been working on for weeks now.

Drum roll please....

I have started a little wedding invitation shop that goes by the name of Happie Creations.   I was determined to make my own wedding invitations & in the process realized how much I enjoyed it!  It was so fun to exercise my creativity in this way and I thought it may be a little endeavor I could hold on to for quite a while.  Here are a few photos of invitation sets I have created, but please do browse my shop and favorite some items to spread the word!

Photos taken by the very talented Sam Pierce.

People.

I recently stumbled across a great storyteller and photographer named Brandon who you might have seen his stuff with Humans of New York.  How inspiring.  He captures peoples' stories with their photographs.  He began with the goal of collecting 10, 000 photos of New Yorkers and it spiraled into a movement!  New York is one of my all-time favorite places with the most unique arrays of beautiful people.  Here are some of my favorites:::

"Whenever I did a show in the park, Doris would come over and watch for a bit. Then one day, she came up to me, and without having ever spoken to me, handed me a clipping of an article that she’d found about me in The Villager. I thought that was the nicest thing. So I took a photo with her, printed it out, and gave it to her the next day. Then the NEXT day, she brings me ANOTHER set of articles about marionettes. At this point, I’d really started to fall for her. So I thought: ‘Doris keeps one-upping me. So I’ve got to do something really, really nice for her."

"If you’re opening a business just for the money, you’ll fail. There’s too much work before the money comes. Your heart needs to be in it."

"I climbed a big cliff"                      "What are their superpowers?"
"This one can talk any enemy to death.
And this one can knock her sister over."

"Nobody wanted to come with me, so I came alone."

"Why are you wearing a pilot’s outfit?""I wear it every day.""Do you want to be a pilot when you grow up?""No, I want to be a teacher.""Why aren’t you wearing a teacher’s outfit?""I don’t have one."'

I love knowing people's stories.  Why are we all strangers?

All credit from these stories goes to the Humans of New York project.

Going Retro

A few years ago, before the era of instagram, I made a very exciting purchase.

I bought my first Lomo Camera: a bright pink, retro Diana F+ film camera!

Mr. Pink here, yes that really is the name of the camera, takes some rockin photos.

Your Big Moment

“Today is your big moment. Moments, really. The life you’ve been waiting for is happening all around you. The scene unfolding right outside your window is worth more than the most beautiful painting, and the crackers and peanut butter that you’re having for lunch on the coffee table are as profound, in their own way, as the Last Supper. This is it. This is life in all its glory, swirling and unfolding around us, disguised as pedantic, pedestrian non-events. But pull of the mask and you will find your life, waiting to be made, chosen, woven, crafted.

Your life, right now, today, is exploding with energy and power and detail and dimension, better than the best movie you have ever seen. You and your family and your friends and your house and your dinner table and your garage have all the makings of a life of epic proportions, a story for the ages. Because they all are. Every life is.

You have stories worth telling, memories worth remembering, dreams worth working toward, a body worth feeding, a soul worth tending, and beyond that, the God of the universe dwells within you, the true culmination of super and natural.

You are more than dust and bones.

You are spirit and power and image of God.

And you have been given Today.”

-Shuana Niqueist

Shauna is one of my favorite authors and I highly recommend her books Cold Tangerines and Bittersweet.  They are books that tell her stories and what God has taught her in the midst of them.  I find myself feeling like she as an old friend as I read her stories and laughing out loud as if we are having discussing life face to face.  Do yourself a favor and pick up a copy, you won't be disappointed.

Story People

Okay so I am in love with poetry & art by Brian Andreas.  One of his main collections is called Story People.  It actually just makes me really happy to read, so I thought I would share my happiness with the world.  If you read this and it brings to mind poetry of a similar sort, or even something much different but just as beautiful...please do send it my way.  This girl loves some all forms of creativity! xo, Kelsey Belle
