Thoughts

Something that hit me the the other day:::

You know when you read something and then write down the revelation you just stumbled upon.  Something that was just words on a page now jumps out at you and clicks.  It now becomes a very vivid reality?  Well this is exactly how the Bible works.  It isn't just sweet symbolic poetry, it is revelation that was REALITY to the disciples and followers of Jesus who wrote it.  Therefore, don't you think it should become reality to us as well?

What are your thoughts on this?

  1. As much as the Bible is good, we don't actually know if it WAS reality or not. There are some things in the Bible that should be applied to daily life, but other things in it are questionable. Whether it was reality or not, I'm don't think most of the Bible should be reality. Of course, that's just my opinion and I totally respect yours. :)

  2. Signe,

thank you for your comment, you expressed disagreement so beautifully and diplomatically. I totally welcome conversation and thoughts on here that are contrary to mine, but one thing I am thankful for is your kindness and grace in doing so. For real =].

but yeah! since I believe the bible is true I totally believe it was reality, BUT i will say that some parts of it have been totally misinterpreted and taken out of context. Some of the parts our society finds most abrasive is really just what was culturally appropriate for their times, etc. A great book I would recommend is Normal Christianity by Jonathan Welton-its totally not what you expect and each chapter is a different topic. It's super logical and I think one of the best chapters is the one on Women. It totally shows how the Bible empowers women and how scripture has been taken out of context over time. Super good! Just a thought if you're interested! But again thank you for expressing your opinion in such a graceful way that opens up dialogue not argument!
